Tuesday 6th October 10.30am – 12-13 miles, about 6 hours - BOOKING REQUIRED

Event date:
6th Oct 2026

‘Round Exeter in a Day’ by popular request.

Meet: Exeter Central Station, Queen Street, Exeter.

OS 192, SX 919 930; EX4 3SB; what3words ///folds.groom.common

The 10.00 train from Exmouth arrives at 10.23 at Central Station: in time for the 10.30 start.

We will follow the Exeter Green Circle this time in an anti-clockwise direction starting from the station forecourt (joining the Hoopern Valley Walk part-way through); a great walking experience within the boundaries of Exeter - from green countryside valley parks to the pavements of quiet leafy suburbs.

The walk is divided into five sections so it is possible to do all or part of the walk, to join or leave at various points.

For those that don’t want to do the full 12-13 miles … you could leave at a convenient point; the Circle is split into five sections and there are bus routes near to the start/finish of each section:

  • Hoopern Valley Walk: just over 2 miles – from Pennsylvania Road / Stoke Valley Road, finish Exe Street by the Millers Crossing;
  • Redhills Walk: approx. 2.5 miles – from Exe St., finish Dunsford Road / Little John’s Cross Hill;
  • Alphin Brook Valley Walk: about 3 miles – from Little Johns Cross Hill / Dunsford Road, finish Clapperbrook Lane East swing bridge canal crossing
  • Ludwell Valley Walk: almost 3 miles - near swing bridge over canal: Topsham Road for bus, finish Vaughan Road / Whipton Lane
  • Mincing Lake Valley Walk: just over 2 miles - from Vaughan Road / Whipton Lane, finish Pennsylvania Road / Stoke Valley Road

Please bring coffee, lunch, water and hopefully everyone will like to eat at the ‘Mill on the Exe’, Bonhay Road, at the end of the walk.
