The Templer Way part 5 – from Newton Abbott to Teignmouth”

Mostly flat, but much of it is along the estuary so expect mud and uneven, sometimes slippery ground. Boots with a good sole, and walking poles are recommended if you have them.

Meet: outside Newton Abbott railway station.

You could drive to Newton Abbot (Osborne St Car Park is near station and cheapest), and return there by train after the walk (trains every 30 minutes, takes 7 minutes). Alternatively catch the 10am train from Exmouth, arrives Newton Abbott 11.06. then at the end of the walk catch the train back to Exmouth (trains every half hour). If doing the train from Exmouth, we suggest buying a return to Newton Abbott.

This, the final leg of our walk, follows the Templer Way from Newton Abbott along the Teign Estuary then uses the Shaldon Ferry to cross to the finish at New Quay Teignmouth.

Bring a flask for a coffee stop and a picnic lunch.

Please book with the Walk Leaders, in case we need to cancel due to bad weather etc. We may also be able to help with sorting out lifts. Any time up to 8am on the day of the walk is fine.
