Amazing stories and photographs of the natural world often hidden in our villages, towns and gardens.
We are delighted to welcome local naturalist David R. White for a very special talk that looks into our villages and gardens to discover the wonders of nature all around us. This talk is going to be slightly different to a normal OVA talk - we've booked the hall for longer to give David more time to tell his stories and show his incredible photographs. As a result, we will have a break in the middle to allow everyone to stretch their legs and grab a drink before continuing with more stories.
Part 1: Our Mammals, reptiles and local Fauna
- David will start by focusing on a few mammals & reptiles, then a range of butterflies & other insects which may have appeal to children in the audience.
- This will be followed by a selection of well-known, and less well-known, garden birds that you may see around your gardens and in your villages - if you know where to look!
Part 2: The less-welcome fauna in our gardens and villages
- David will continue his talk by looking at a few birds that he prefers not to see in his garden.
- This will be followed by a few examples of bird breeding activities ( including herons & little egrets NOT garden birds but for general interest).
David hopes that, by the end of the talk, everyone attending should have extra ideas about what wildlife might be seen in their towns, villages and gardens. As with all of his talks, you will be amazed at the stories and the photographs that will showcase animals that you never knew were in your back garden all this time!
This talk will be taking place at the Peter Hall in Budleigh Slaterton. You can find this by going behind St. Peters Church. Doors will open for this talk at 6:30pm and the talk will continue through to our standard ending time of about 9pm.
Everyone is welcome - members and non-members. An entry fee of £4 is payable by all at the door.
