Amazing stories and photographs of the natural world often hidden in our villages, towns and gardens.
We are delighted to welcome local naturalist David R White for a very special talk that looks into our villages and gardens to discover the wonders of nature all around us. This talk is a slightly shortened repeat of the talk given by David on the 14th October in Budleigh Salterton. The focus of this talk is to examine the wonderful flora & fauna that can be found in our villages, towns and gardens - if you know where and how to look.
- David will start by focusing on a few mammals & reptiles, then a range of butterflies & other insects which may have appeal to children in the audience.
- This will be followed by a selection of well-known, and less well-known, garden birds that you may see around your gardens and in your villages - if you know where to look!
- David will continue his talk by looking at a few birds that he prefers not to see in his garden.
- This will be followed by a few examples of bird breeding activities ( including herons & little egrets NOT garden birds but for general interest).
David hopes that, by the end of the talk, everyone attending should have extra ideas about what wildlife might be seen in their towns, villages and gardens. As with all of his talks, you will be amazed at the stories and the photographs that will showcase animals that you never knew were in your back garden all this time!
This talk will be taking place at the Ottery Institute in Otter St. Mary. Doors will open for this talk at 7:00pm and the talk will continue through to our standard ending time of about 9pm.
Everyone is welcome - members and non-members. An entry fee of £4 is payable by all at the door.
