Cecil Elgee Sketches

While sorting through the OVA archive recently two scraper board drawings by Cecil Elgee came to light.  Cecil Elgee was a renowned local artist and it is possible she produced these sketches for the OVA to be used as newsletter cover images.  Alan Cotton and Joyce Dennys both produced black and white drawings for early issues of the newsletter and it may be these images were to be part of that series.

Scraper boards were a common base for artwork up to about 25 or so years ago and one of these drawings has a date of 1983 on the reverse.  Both are signed by the artist adding to their value.  These images are approximately 250mm x 150mm (10in x 6in).

After seeking advice the OVA EC have decided to donate these drawings to the Fairlynch Museum to add to their collection of the artist's work.
